Directed by Alan Morton

Dublin, Ireland

This documentary, featuring the mentor of Irish music greats Glen Hansard, Declan O'Rourke, Hazel O'Connor, Damian Dempsey, Luka Bloom and Paddy Casey, is the result of a two-year comprehensive examination of the artists, hosts and the originator of the open mic scene in Dublin, Ireland. The stories are great, the talent is astounding and the origins from 25 years ago is a surprise and delight. The whole film is awash with revealing interviews and superb music and poetry, captured live and in the raw. This is the first project of its kind attempted for this scene, and due to the scale of the task, it's not likely to be repeated any time soon. You will hear the stories of the dynamic open mic hosts who’s dedication provides a weekly platform to a multitude of burgeoning talent.

This program is presented in partnership with The Aisling Irish Community Center, The Consulate General of Ireland, New York, and through a generous grant from The Emigrant Support Program.
