THE MAN WHO SAVED THE WORLD

(online screening + Q&A)

Director: Peter Anthony

(Denmark, Latvia, Russia, USA, documentary/drama, 110 minutes)

This award-winning film was a YoFi Fest festival favorite! Few people know of him - yet billions of people are alive because of him. In 1983, the actions of Soviet military officer Lieutenant Colonel Stanislav Petrov prevented the start of a unsurvivable worldwide nuclear war and the devastation of the entire Earth.

FEATURING: Stanislav Petrov, Kevin Costner, Nataliya Vdovina, Robert De Niro, Matt Damon, Ashton Kutcher, Galina Kalinina, Sergey Shnyryov, Walter Cronkite.

After you've watched the movie, join us for a conversation with the film's Executive Producer Christian Bruun to find out more about the journey from script to screen for this fascinating documentary/drama hybrid, and whatever other questions you may have.

"An epic and grand Cold War thriller that sends shivers down your spine and shows us just how close we came to Apocalypse."

-The New York Times

"A true and powerful story."

-The Hollywood Reporter

"A nail-biting Cold War story."

-Time Out

"Truly one of the most brilliant films I've ever seen."

-Director's Talk

To put the social into social distancing, we've developed an online screening series called Friday Flicks, where we curate an evening of independent film that includes a screening and an opportunity to (virtually) meet the filmmaker. Here's how it works:
1. Buy one ticket per screen (FYI, the whole family can watch from the same screen).
2. We'll send you a link to the film to watch at your convenience on any web-enabled device, as well as a link to an online "Meet The Filmmaker" session on Zoom.
3. Join us the following Friday evening at 9pm EST for a talkback with the filmmakers, where you'll have the opportunity to hear about the making of the film and get to ask questions.

We split the ticket sales with the filmmakers and encourage you to order in from your favorite restaurant, that way you’ll be supporting an artist, a non-profit and a local business all in one night!
